Das 2018 gegründete Quatuor Mona entstand aus dem Zusammentreffen von vier jungen Musikern aus aller Welt. Das in Paris ansässige Quartett hatte die Möglichkeit, bei bedeutenden Lehrern wie Günter Pichler an der Escuela Superior Reina Sofia in Madrid, François Salque am Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris zu lernen und von den Ratschlägen von Luc-Marie Aguera und Mathieu Herzog und dem Quatuor Modigliani zu profitieren. Diese Einflüsse waren entscheidend; es ist auch das Zusammentreffen von Künstlerpersönlichkeiten wie Eric Le Sage, Emmanuel Pahud, Paul Meyer, Abdel Rahman El Bacha, Kyril Zlotnikov anlässlich verschiedener Kooperationen, das ihre musikalische Karriere beeinflusst hat.
Das Quartett ist bei mehreren Gelegenheiten in den großen klassischen Konzertsälen von Paris aufgetreten, wie dem Pierre Boulez-Saal der Philharmonie de Paris, dem Cortot-Saal und dem Petit Palais, und sie waren bei renommierten Festivals wie den Rencontres Musicales d'Evian, dem Festival Salon de Provence und dem Internationales Festival von Edinburgh zu sehen. Sie sind außerdem Artists in Residence bei der Singer-Polignac Foundation in Paris, dem Proquartet-Centre Européen de Musique de Chambre und Britten Pears Young Artists für die Saison 2022/23. Sie waren auch Residenten der Stiftung Villa Musica in Deutschland und Dimore Del Quartetto in Italien. Im Bewusstsein der Notwendigkeit, sich auch an alternativen Orten für junges Publikum, Krankenhäuser und benachteiligte Gegenden zu engagieren, liegt ihnen auch die Partnerschaft mit Proquartet und Live Music Now besonders am Herzen.
Elina, eine lettische Staatsbürgerin, wird vom Strad Magazine als Musikerin mit „Fähigkeit für Fantasie und Geschichtenerzählen“ beschrieben, „die durch ihre technische Agilität und Individualität äußerst überzeugend ist“. Sie ist Preisträgerin des Kulturkreis Gasteig Musikpreises 2019 in München. Sie studierte bei Augustin Dumay an der Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, bei Christophe Poppen an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater München und dann bei den berühmten Geigerinnen Midori und Ana Chumachenko. Sie trat in der Wigmore Hall London, im Auditorium du Louvre Paris, in der Laeiszhalle Hamburg, im Palais de Beaux Arts Brüssel, in der Tschaikowsky-Konzerthalle Moskau und als Solistin mit den Orchestern I Virtuosi del Teatro alla Scala, Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège und vielen anderen auf. Elina ist auch Kuratorin eines Projekts, das sich um Musik und Parfums dreht.
Charlotte, Französin, studierte bei Latica Honda-Rosenberg an der Universität der Künste Berlin und bei Eberhard Feltz an der Hanns Eisler Musikhochschule Berlin. Sie ist Trägerin des Villa Musica Stern-Preises 2020, ist seit mehreren Jahren an der Staatskapelle Berlin unter der Leitung von Daniel Barenboim engagiert und tritt regelmäßig mit dem Mahler Chamber Orchestra, dem Orchestre de Paris und als Kammermusikerin bei europäischen Festivals wie Offene Kammermusik Prussia Cove, Schiermonnikoog. Charlotte hat auch einen Master-Abschluss in politischer Kunst von der SciencesPo Paris unter der Leitung des Philosophen Bruno Latour.
Arianna, eine amerikanische Staatsbürgerin, ist auf renommierten Bühnen im Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., im Symphony Center und im Harris Theatre in Chicago aufgetreten. Sie studierte zunächst am Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles bei Paul Coletti und dann bei Jean Sulem am Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris und bei Miguel Da Silva an der Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. Christine, eine Koreanerin, hat sich als eine der vielseitigsten Künstlerinnen ihrer Generation profiliert. Sie ist Gewinnerin des ersten Preises des internationalen Isang Yun-Wettbewerbs in Korea und Gewinnerin des ersten Internationalen Queen-Elisabeth-Cellowettbewerbs. In jungen Jahren erhielt sie ihre Ausbildung am Curtis Institute of Music bei Orlando Cole, Peter Wiley und Carter Brey und anschließend bei Joel Krosnick an der Juilliard School. Sie setzte ihre Studien in Europa bei Gary Hoffman an der Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel und Christoph Richter an der Royal Academy of Music London fort. Sie trat in der Alice Tully Hall, der Carnegie Hall, dem Louvre Museum, der Victoria Hall, als Solistin mit den Brüsseler Philharmonikern, dem Philadelphia Orchestra und als Kammermusikerin beim Marlboro Festival und vielen anderen auf. Elina, Charlotte, Arianna und Christine sind sehr neugierig auf die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten der künstlerischen Umsetzung. Im Januar 2022 präsentierte das Quartett ein tschechisches Cine-Konzert zu einem Animationsfilm von Znedek Miler in der Philharmonie de Paris. Das Quartett engagiert sich für die kommende Spielzeit mit einer Show rund um das Unvollendete mit Jean-Francois Zygel sowie auf einer Kreation France Culture nach The Great Gatsby von Francis Scott Fitzgerald im Théâtre du Châtelet, an der Kreuzung von Jazz, Klassik, Pop und Hip-Hop, vertont von Issam Krimi. 2023 ist es eine Arbeit mit Eric Montalbetti rund um sein Quartett Harmonies Dissonances, die im Volcan du Havre stattfinden wird.

Founded in 2018, the Quatuor Mona was born from the meeting of four young musicians from all over the world. Based in Paris, the quartet has had the chance to train with eminent teachers such as Günter Pichler at the Escuela Superior Reina Sofia in Madrid, François Salque at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris and to benefit from the advice of Luc-Marie Aguera, Mathieu Herzog and the Quatuor Modigliani. She is a laureate of the 2019 Kulturkreis Gasteig Musikpreis in Munich. She trained with Augustin Dumay at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, Christophe Poppen at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München and then with the famous violinist Midori and Ana Chumachenko. She has performed at Wigmore Hall London, Auditorium du Louvre Paris, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Palais de Beaux Arts Brussels, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall Moscow and as a soloist with the orchestras I Virtuosi del Teatro alla Scala, Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège and many others. Elina is also the curator of a project that revolves around music and perfumes.
Charlotte, a French national, studied with Latica Honda-Rosenberg at the Universität der Künste Berlin and Eberhard Feltz at Hanns Eisler Berlin. Arianna, an American national, has performed on prestigious stages at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., the Symphony Center and the Harris Theater in Chicago. She trained first at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles with Paul Coletti and then Jean Sulem at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris and Miguel Da Silva at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. She has been invited to participate in many festivals such as the Verbier Academy, the Perlman Music Program, the Kronberg Academy, Krzyzowa International Festival.
Christine, a Korean national, has distinguished herself as one of the most versatile artists of her generation. She is first prize winner of the Isang Yun International Competition in Korea and winner of the first Queen Elisabeth International Cello Competition. She trained at the Curtis Institute of Music at a young age with Orlando Cole, Peter Wiley, and Carter Brey, and then with Joel Krosnick at the Juilliard School. She continued her studies in Europe with Gary Hoffman at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and Christoph Richter at the Royal Academy of Music London. She has performed at Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, Louvre Museum, Victoria Hall, as a soloist with the Brussels Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra and as a chamber musician at the Marlboro Festival and many others. She is also recognized as a strong advocate for charitable and philanthropic causes. Committed to serving her community through music, she has raised funds to build a mobile library for underprivileged children in North Philadelphia and is the artistic director of the We've got your Bach project during the early months of the pandemic.
Elina, Charlotte, Arianna and Christine are extremely curious about the various possible forms of artistic realization. It is their common passion for the string quartet repertoire but also the versatility of their international career that brought them together in the Quatuor Mona. The transversality of artistic disciplines interests them. In January 2022, the quartet presented a Czech cine-concert on an animated film by Znedek Miler at the Philharmonie de Paris. They are also constantly looking for a balance between studying the string quartet's time-honoured repertoire and rediscovering lesser-known works such as those of Germaine Tailleferre, Vitezlsava Kapralova and other forgotten female composers.
They are also enthusiastic about playing contemporary repertoires and exchanging with composers such as recently with Jörg Widmann around his Jagdquartett on the occasion of the Heidelberg Frühling Festival 2021. The quartet is engaged for the coming season on a show around the Unfinished with Jean-Francois Zygel, as well as on a creation France Culture adapted from The Great Gatsby by Francis Scott Fitzgerald at the Théâtre du Châtelet, at the crossroads of jazz, classical music, pop and hip hop, set to music by Issam Krimi. In 2023 it is a work with Eric Montalbetti around his quartet Harmonies Dissonances that will take place at the Volcan du Havre.
