Das Turicum Quartet wurde 2021 in Zürich gegründet. Vier Stimmen aus vier Ländern – Belgien, Polen, Israel, Schweiz – bilden eine lebendige Einheit.
2023 wurde das Turicum Quartet zweiter Preisträger beim Internationalen Karol-Szyanowski-Musikwettbewerb. Ihr vielbeachteter Auftritt wurde weltweit von Medici TV live übertragen, und sie erschienen in The Strad und auf The Violin Channel. Zu den Höhepunkten seitdem zählen ihr Debüt in der Tonhalle Zürich, ein erneuter Auftritt bei der NOSPR in Katowice (Polen) und Konzerte beim Mizmorim Festival mit dem renommierten Gringolts Quartett.
2025 war das Turicum Quartet eines von elf Streichquartetten weltweit, die für den Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition ausgewählt wurden. 2025-2026 stehen Konzerte in der Schweiz, Deutschland, Großbritannien, Belgien, Österreich, Italien und Norwegen sowie Aufnahmen für das belgische Radio und Fernsehen auf dem Programm. Im Frühjahr 2026 werden sie in der Solti Hall in Budapest auftreten.
Im Sommer 2024 war das Turicum Quartet Quartett in Residence beim Ticino Musica Festival und trat dort auch mit Ivan Podyomov, dem Solo-Oboisten des Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, auf. Das Turicum Quartet spielt Werke alter Meister und moderner Komponisten gleichermaßen. Auf dem Programm stehen Werke von Toshio Hosokawa, Victor Alexandru Coltea, Hed Bahack und Amir Liberson, dem Bratschisten des Quartetts.
Im Jahr 2026 werden sie einen Aufbaustu-diengang in Basel bei Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartett) und Silvia Simionescu (Gringolts Quartett) absolvieren. Das Turicum Quartet ist Stipendiat der Villa Musica in Deutschland. Es wurde als ECMA Ensemble (European Chamber Music Academy) ausgewählt und ist Mitglied von Le Dimore del Quartetto.
Das Turicum Quartet ist Ilya Gringolts (Gringolts Quartett), Axel Schacher (ehemals Belcea Quartet) und Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartett) für ihre wertvolle Unterstützung sehr dankbar. Weitere musikalische Impulse erhielt es von Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartett) und Oliver Wille (Kuss Quartett).
The Turicum Quartet was founded in Zurich in 2021. Four voices from four countries – Belgium, Poland, Israel, Switzerland – forming a vibrant unity.
2023 the Turicum Quartet became second prizewinner of the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition. Highly acclaimed, their performance was worldwide livestreamed by Medici TV and they appeared in The Strad and on The Violin Channel. Highlights since then include their debut in Tonhalle Zurich, performing back at NOSPR in Katowice (Poland) and concerts at the Mizmorim Festival with the renowned Gringolts Quartett.
2025 the Turicum Quartet was one of the eleven string quartets worldwide selected for the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. 2025-2026 includes concerts in Switzerland, Germany, the UK, Belgium, Austria, Italy and Norway as well as recordings for the Belgian radio and tv. Spring 2026 they will perform in the Solti Hall in Budapest.
Summer 2024 the Turicum Quartet was Quartet in Residence at the Ticino Musica Festival, also performing with Ivan Podyomov, principal oboist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. The Turicum Quartet performs old masters and modern composers side by side. Their programs include music by Toshio Hosokawa, Victor Alexandru Coltea, Hed Bahack and Amir Liberson, the viola player of the quartet.
In 2026, they will complete a graduate course in Basel with Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartett) and Silvia Simionescu (Gringolts Quartett). The Turicum Quartet is a fellowship holder of Villa Musica in Germany. They have been selected as ECMA Ensemble (European Chamber Music Academy) and are part of Le Dimore del Quartetto.
The Turicum Quartet is very grateful for the guidance of Ilya Gringolts (Gringolts Quartett), Axel Schacher (ex-Belcea Quartet) and Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartett). They received further musical impulses from Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartett) and Oliver Wille (Kuss Quartett).
